Inglot Blush Palette - Freedom Sytem

I'm currently having a bit of a love in with Inglot at the moment, I can't believe they were off my radar for so long.

For those of you unaware of Inglots freedom system, allow me give you a little run down. First you decide how many eye shadows, blusher etc you want. I believe they start with 3 items and go up as far as 20, you then get to pick which ever colours you wish for your palette. Great idea if you ask me!!! I've bought many an eyeshadow palette and thought I wish there was this colour instead of that colour.

For my blush palette I chose the four pan option. (I hope im calcuating this corretly €42, €9 per blush then the palette when bought with the 4 blush is half price at €6)

From left to right: 34, 47, 20,52

My favourite colour in this palette is the hot pink colour (52) I just love me some hot pink.  They are all very pigmented and I think they give me a great variety in my kit.

No 34 was chosen for me by the lovely girl who served me (Enisa), I don't think I'd of chosen this one myself but I have to say its really nice on it has some subtle glitter in it.  Really nice if you are going for a nice natural look.

Blush can really make or break a makeup look so choosing the right colour for your skin tone is the key. I would say if you aren't sure always ask the makeup artist / adviser which one they would recommend for you. And don't be afraid to ask them to try it out on you they'd be only too happy to oblige.

My advice on choosing blush, if you're going for a dramatic eye choose a blush that complements it and doesn't compete with it. Same with a natural look choose something subtle, that goes with the overall look. Always apply a little at at a time, its easier to add to blusher than take away and nobody wants the "aunt Sally" look now do they :) If you do over do it, use the remaining foundation on your brush or sponge over it this will help tone it down.

So if you haven't yet taken the plunge, do it, call into Inglot! you wont be disappointed.

Have you any Inglot favourites I should know about?

Battle of the BB Creams

This was a requested post over on my facebook page. I'm a full coverage kind of gal so I didn’t have high hopes for these BB creams.

BB creams have been huge in Asia for years now and the ones we have are more like the cousins of the ones available in Asia. In Asia they are mainly used to whiten the skin. Something ladies in Ireland might not need. I'll let you look at this Link here to get all the nitty gritty on them.  BB creams claim to be multi-tasking, from illuminating to anti-wrinkle to covering blemishes and scars. They can be worn alone as a tinted moisturiser or underneath your usual foundation depending on what coverage you like yourself. So I picked myself up 3 all mid price range and all available in Boots to give them ago and let you guys know how I got on with them.

L’Oreal Paris - Nude Magique BB Cream.  €15.49

  • Flawless Coverage
  • Perfectly even skin texture
  •  Fresh dewy glow
  • 24Hr Hydration
  • Protects with SPF 12

This is a 5-in-1 BB cream, bare skin beautifier which mimics the texture and glow of perfect bare skin.  The shade I got was light skin tone. When I squeezed this onto the back of my hand I was a bit taken back by the appearance, it’s white with what look like grains of sand in it.  Strange!I then read the packaging to be told these are “smart pigment capsules”....ahha....  Anyway once you blend it into the skin it blends into a flesh tone colour. I am not the palest of skin tones, I’m normally the 2nd shade in a range, this to me wasn’t light enough for my skin tone, so I had to add some bronzer to my neck and décolletage area to match it up.  Coverage was very light I needed to add concealer to my under eye area too. For me it didn’t have enough coverage to wear on its own which is a personal choice, like I have said already I am a full coverage person. I didn’t feel like my skin was hydrated or dewy. Can’t say I loved it, it was my least favourite of the three, especially as the colour was too dark anyway! I would say that none of the 5 claims above where true for me.

Garnier Skin Naturals BB Cream Skin Perfector €15.24

  •  Evens tone and boosts glow
  • Blurs imperfections
  • Smoothes fine lines
  •  24hr hydration
  • Spf 15 UV protection
This is an all-in-one BB Cream. I also got this in the light shade although still not very pale it was slightly paler than the L’Oreal one. This one smells lovely and does leave you skin looking dewy and glowing and your skin definitely feels hydrated.  Again the coverage with this one wasn’t up to my standards but felt better than the L’Oreal one, needing less concealing and faffing around with other products.  I think I would be happy to use this on holidays when you feel that you need something on your skin but not necessarily foundation.  I’d also consider using this as a primer for my foundation as I have dry skin and like full coverage this could be an alternative use for this for me. I would say I only like it.  But if you have good skin anyway this would be a great alternative to foundation for you.

Rimmel London BB Cream €8.95

  • Primes
  • Moisturises
  • Minimises pores
  • Conceals
  • Covers
  • Smoothes
  • Mattifies
  • Brightens
  • Helps protect
This is a 9-in1 BB Cream although I think a couple of the points are the same thing lol, with SPF of 25 fantastic!!! My shade again was light. This one was the cheapest of all 3 and my overall favourite.  Smells fresh, leaves your skin looking dewy but not shiny and the coverage was the best of all 3 too.  I actually wore this to work that’s how impressed I was with the coverage. With an SPF of 25 would be fantastic for sun holidays to wear by the pool for anyone who likes that kind of thing. Would be great for just throwing on if you were heading to the shops or on a school run.  And with a great price tag too I would have no problems recommending this one.

So that’s it ladies, that’s my low down on BB Creams.

Do keep in mind that I love full coverage and I would never just wear atinted moisturiser on its own, so my favourite is based on that. And I do have dry skin too. I would say if you’re more oily skin side the Rimmel one would probably be best for you as the Garnier one might be too dewy.
Anyone any favourite BB creams?

Inglot AMC Foundation Review

I don't think I'll be alone in this, I am constantly searching for my all time favourite foundation. Every time I run out I buy a different brand. I do have a current favourite which is Estèe Lauder Double Wear, it just does not budge!!! It's great for work . I couldn't be bothered fixing my face while I'm there yet at the same time I want to always look my best. One problem with Estèe Lauder Double Wear is I find it doesn't photograph very well when there is a flash involved (I blame the SPF)

Inglot AMCfoundation contains no SPF. I carry this foundation in my kit and it photographs really nicely. It’s a great option for nights out so that you won’t get that dreaded white mask in photos!

What Inglot say about this foundation:"Vitamin E, peptides and special polyesters are combined with a unique silicone and gel base to keep all skin types (especially dry) illuminated and moisturized."

What I say:  You can most definitely feel the silicone and gel in this foundation it feels super silky on the skin (actually really nice feeling, the Double wear is the opposite sometimes feeling tight). It’s definitely illuminating but doesn't give off that glittery effect that some illuminating foundations can. I have dry/combination skin so this was perfect from me, Although I'm not too sure that it would be great for oily skin as it tends to move around a lot so if you're oily I would recommend maybe giving this a miss or try it over a mattifying primer and most definitely powder over it. It's supposed to be a full coverage foundation but I would say it’s more medium.

I've been road testing this foundation in work over the past few weeks and I'm sorry to say for me it’s not work friendly.  I've tried it, with primer, without primer with Inglot powder with Mac powder, but unfortunately it doesn't stay in place :(. That said I touch my face a million times a day so most foundations would have a hard time with that! It lasts up to about lunch time and then starts to disappear from my nose and chin, which is a pity because I had high hopes for it.

I'm not completely writing it off, as I said earlier it’s a great foundation for photographs and nights out and at €22.00 you can't go wrong. I've tried plenty of more expensive foundations that were not as good as this one is. Inglot is a fantastic brand at fantastic prices.

I'm moving onto the YSM foundation now, gonna give this one a go see how it gets on. :)

Have you tried Inglot yet?

What's in my travel make up bag :)

Don't ya just hate travelling on a plane with only carry on luggage? Wanting to bring so much yet it all has to be under 100mls :(. Especially when you're obsessed with makeup and beauty products. I find it a challenge at times.

Here's what I brought with me on my trip to Sweden. In hindsight I could have brought two zip bags and gave the hubby one, I just wasn't thinking!!!

Items under 100mls:

- Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Lip Treatment
- Vichy Idéalia Smoothing and Illuminating Cream
- Revlon Colourstay liquid liner in black
- Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation (my colour is Dessert Beige)
- Mac Creme Sheen lip glass (Just Superb)
- Lancôme Hypnose Drama Mascara
- Stella McCartney
- My dailies Contacts
- Benefits Erase Paste
- Some Hair Gel for the hubby
(I also brought some Elvive Colour protect shampoo and conditioner (travel size), they were left in the hotel

Here’s what came in the makeup bag:

- Avon 6 in 1 Palette
- Kat Von D Eye shadow Palette
- Naked 2 Palette
- Mac Mineralize Skin Finish Natural
- Urban Decay Pencil in 1999
- Milani Mineral Blusher in Mai Tai
- Benefits Hoola Bronzer
- Sleek Blusher in Rose Gold

So that’s what I find I need when I am going away, everything i need for a natural look to a smokey eye. Although bringing the Kat Von D palette was probably over kill but I do like the highlight shades that are in it. I used the Milani blusher for day time and the sleek one for night time.

What are your travel essentials?
