Z Palette

How many of you have loads of single eye shadows that never get used? I find the main reason I never use them is because I don't see them. So last year I bought the Z Palette. I can easily say this was a fantastic purchase. I have 13 single Mac eye shadows in my collection that were very rarely used, not because I didn't love them but because they were in a bag and a hassle to find. I love my Urban Decay palettes because they are so easy to transport anywhere. Taking 13 Mac eye shadows on holidays, well lets face it was never going to happen, a Urban Decay Naked Palette on the other hand much easier to fling in a bag.

I watch a lot of you tube channels for reviews and tutorials and the Z Pallet gets plenty of airtime. I have to say buying this beauty has made me fall in love with my Mac shadows once again.

I have the large red palette. This holds 27 Mac eye shadows, however the best thing about this palette is that you are not restricted to a brand, size or eye shadows for that mater. If you've de potted your Mac eye shadows you will need to use magnetic stickers to get them to stay on the palette, my palette came with the stickers so it was dead handy. It has a clear window so its easy to see whats inside the palette. The creator of this palette is a makeup artist herself so she really had ease of use in mind when designing it. You can purchase the Z Palette on their website here. It comes in loads of different designs and sizes there's bound to be one there that fits your needs.

Red- Large Palette

I got mine from Camera Ready Cosmetics here. I also recently got a mail from CRC to say that they will price match any product so make sure you check out their website.

Here's a pic of mine (not great I will update, need some natural light), I've 13 Mac eye shadows, a Max Factor eye shadow, an eyeshadow quad from Benefit and a Benefit blusher in mine.

If you'd like to see a post on how to de-pot the eye shadows let me know. It was easy enough to do, only one eyeshadow was damaged and that was because I was rushing :(.  I also managed to back to Mac the pots and got myself two new mac lipsticks :)

(god that photo is awful!!)

I need to do another de potting exercise and get my hands on some more palettes.

Will you be de-potting your Mac eye shadows?

3 Week Mascara

I'm always on the look out for a long lasting smudge proof mascara, so when I heard about a 3 week mascara I just had to give it a go.

This mascara is applied to the lashes in a similar way to how we apply normal everyday mascara.  It's only to be applied by a trained professional so this isnt a do it yourself jobby!

I had my mascara applied by Louise from Louscara Lashes, you can visit her facebook page here.

This treatment lasts up to 3 weeks, depending on your natural eyelash growth / shred rate.  Once applied they are instantly waterproof and smudge proof. This a great option for brides, holidays and anyone like me who constantly gets panda eyes from normal non waterproof mascara. Mine lasted over 2 weeks before it started to look like it needed to be removed. The mascara is in fact a resin and when applied feels much harder than a normal mascara does, so if you're not a fan of how eyelash extensions feel on the eye this might not be for you as for me it felt similar just without the length.

The 3 week mascara doesn't lengthen your lashes just gives the same effect that mascara does. Its a great idea and I will deffo be having it done again in the future especially when i am heading on holidays this for me was much better than a tint.

Louise is based in Dublin and will travel to surrounding areas. This treatment costs €35 do mention that you heard about here at Lip Gloss and Slippers Blog and she might even give you a little discount.

Any treatments your loving at the moment?

Le Chat - Dare to Wear Nail Polish and Perfect Match VU polish

As a nail technician I want to give my clients a long lasting vibrant manicure. So to achieve this I use Le Chat Dare to Wear Nail Lacquers and Perfect Match UV polish. These polishes are DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde free. Like all top brands they release  a new collection regularly, the latest collection to hit the shelves is the Vintage Hollywood collection you can see it here. The Nail Lacquers come in a huge array of shades.

I recently volunteered my services at the "Thank You Mom" campaign in Dublin and Dare to Wear was the brand I used on the day (with thanks to Suzanne from ASU). One of my favourite combo's is Cherry Cosmo topped off with On The Red Carpet for a glittery elegant finish. (Pictured below, although the photo doesn’t do it justice).

I recommend you use a base coat, two coats of the colour of your choice topped off with a top coat. The base coat will protect your nails from discolouration while giving the colour something to cling onto this in combination with a top coat will give you a longer lasting manicure.

Pictured here are from left to right front row: On the red Carpet, Hologram Diamonds,Red Ruby Rules
Starstruck and Ready for My Close Up.

Being a nail tech my nails always need to look fantastic as they are, in essence my business card. When performing a nail treatment on clients I use a lot of products that would potentially remove nail polish, so I always wear UV polish on my own nails as the UV polish can only be removed with acetone, so its a nail techs best friend!

The current look I am wearing is Marilyn Merlot with La Rosa Romantica on my ring finger and thumb. A great combo, especially in this dreary weather. Marilyn Merlot is a great shade, very classic and will go with almost every outfit.

Perfect Match for me is the best brand I have used for UV polish. There is a shade available for everyone, from bold and bright, glitz and glam to classic and simple. Most of my clients get up to 2-3 weeks from their UV manicure depending on the colour. With the dark colours you only tend to get 2 weeks from as the re-growth can be quiet noticeable, were as with the French or natural shades the re growth isn’t as noticeable.

There is a huge selection of colours to choose from and at ASU there are great bundle deals available. The one I love is the 6 kit deal for €125 for 6 colours and your base coat and top coat as extra. They also run deals when new ranges are released. Each Perfect match UV polish comes with a matching nail lacquer to add to your collection.

You can purchase Dare to Wear Nail Lacquers from ASU Nail and Beauty Supplies in Swords or visit their website ASU.

Manicures last for different lengths of time on each person, all depending on what you do with your hands.
What I always tell my clients is“treat your nails as jewels not tools” and you’re sure to get longer from your polish.

What are your top nail polishes?

"Thank You Mom" - Mammies from Laura Lynn House

I was recently asked to volunteer my services for the Thank You Mom campaign at the wella hair studios in Dublin.

Today’s Mom’s are the mammies from Laura Lynn House all of the Mammies have children who rely on the fantastic services provided by Laura Lynn. You can read more about Laura Lynn here. To meet these women and hear their brave stories was truly a humbling experience. I was truly honoured to have shared this day with them.

The Mammies were welcomed to the studio with a prosecco reception. Each lady had an individual schedule based on what they had planned for them on the day. First on the list for everyone was the hair pampering zone. The Mammies could choose to have their hair coloured, cut and styled by the team of hairdressers who were on hand.

In between treatments the mammies could sit and chat the tea and coffee area, this was a lovely little touch as they got to have a great chat with each other. Not all the mammies knew each other so it was really nice for them to all sit down and share tips with each other and of course have some cake which is always a good thing :)

It was then onto the face pampering zone where the ladies were treated to a facial. The ladies were then brought to me for a file and a polish of their choice, Dare to Wear's Marilyn Merlot and Max Factors lasting effects in intense plum were the favourites of the day.

Finally it was onto make up. Their transformations were complete and they looked amazing! To top off the day each lady was given a goodie bag filled to the brim with Wella, Max factor and Olay goodies to continue the pampering when they got home.

It was an absolute pleasure to treat these ladies to a great day of pampering. Everyone there including myself volunteered our services for the day and I have to be honest I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Have a look at the photos below which were taken on the day:

The services which Laura Lynn provide are lifelines for these families, without them these families lives would be so much harder. Laura Lynn house really depend on fundraising and donations to continue to provide their sevices to familes all over the country. So if you've a spare few euro click on the link above to find out where you can donate or what you can do to help.

A big well done to all the guys and girls at the Wella Studios who put on this fantastic day for these fantastic women.  A huge thank you to Suzanne from ASU for donating some Dare to Wear Nail Polishes for me to use on the day. ASU are a nail and beauty training and Supplies Company based in Swords, County Dublin. You can visit their website here. Dare to wear by Le Chat come in hundreds of shades and are my go to brand when it comes to nails.  I will have a separate blog post on them.

Great day was had by all.  I was shattered when I got home but it was an event that will stay with me for life, meeting these women hearing their stories makes me realise how truly lucky I am.

January Favorites

Sorry this is a tad late my lovelies, real life took over for a bit, but we are back on track. So this will be my first monthly favourtes.

Hair:
Unq1 hair treatment, this was recommended to me by a girl in work. It's great!! Protects your hair from heat styling. (Watch this space for a giveaway)

Skincare:
Vichy 3 in 1 cleanser, this leaves your skin feeling really nice. It struggles slightly with gel liner but its really nice so I don't mind having to use separate eye makeup remover.

Face:
Estée Lauder Doublewear foundation, what hasn't been said about this foundation already, extremely long lasting and excellent coverage!

Mac Mineralize Skin Finish, as a dry skin lady I find this keeps my skin from drying out.

Eyes:
Lancôme Hypnose drama eyes mascara, doesn't smudge on my eyes and makes my really pathetic little lashes look good!

Naked palette (there's no look that can't be achieved with this palette).

Inglot Gel eyeliner (black) really really long lasting and a great price!

Lips:
Nothing got my attention this month just Vaseline Rosy lip therapy :)

Tools:
Real techniques buffing brush (please excuse the dirty brush in the pic, I was too lazy to wash it before the pic) great brush! Leaves a flawless finish! These range of brushes are great value and available in boots.

Non Beauty
My Kindle fell back in love with this in Jan, I really enjoy reading but after a long day in work I sometimes am too tired to read before bed! So I'm doing my best to get a few pages in a night.

So that's the round up.

What were ur Jan faves?
